Working our way to Saint Jean Pied De Port (in Pamplona tonight)

We are working our way to Saint Jean Pied de Port and have arrived in Pamplona this afternoon. From today on, we are in villages and cities that are part of the Camino Frances until our journey ends. We arrived in Madrid yesterday from Seattle; Lei had a longer commute from Honolulu, but we made it in one piece.  Today is special, however, because it is the day we are in the company of fellow pilgrims. You can't miss us pilgrims.  The backpacks with the scallop shells give us away every time.

The train ride from Madrid to Pamplona was a relaxing three hour trip that allowed us to catch some sleep. Until today, the Camino was not fully real for us, but something "out there" that we plan on doing. That all changed today with our arrival in Pamplona.  We are on The Way, and we will begin our walk the day after tomorrow. We hope for good weather and hope the rain gods look the other direction for a while.  A wet Pyrenees crossing would not be pleasant but we will accept the Fates.

I did have some time for my own personal reflection today as I stood on a Camino marker after a year's absence (51 weeks to be exact). It feels good to be back again and sharing this adventure with my friends. And I am especially happy that Jim and I are finally walking the Camino together.  We're ready. Let's get going.
